Source Summary

Arger, Peter. "Teaching Medical Students Diagnostic Sonography." Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine                     (2005). American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. Web.

Summary:

This journal explains a pilot program tested out on 33 medical students in the sonography field. This pilot program gave the students a hands-on education and let them see what they're future career will be like. The beginning of the article explains the growing importance of sonography and why it will continue to grow throughout the future. It is a useful field, and experts are discovering more and more ways to put it to work. Learning the basics of sonography can allow students to branch out into different subspecialties similar to their desired field. This journal discusses the four week program and gives a detailed description of each week's work. While reading this journal, I was able to develop a deeper connection with my future career, and also gain a deeper appreciation. I can now see exactly what the career entails. This helps me to decide if I have what it takes to be an ultrasound technician and work with all the sonography tools that are necessary to succeed.
